Small Business Diaries: A Day in My Life as a Boutique Owner

Running a boutique isn’t always cute coffee runs and organizing pretty inventory (though, let’s be real — we do love that part). It’s a whole mix of creativity, chaos, time management, and passion. If you’ve ever wondered what a day behind the scenes at Daisie Boutique looks like — here’s a peek into my daily routine as a small biz owner, content creator, and dopamine fashion girlie.

✿ 8:00 AM – Sweet Tea & Planning

My mornings always start with something cold and sweet — usually a big cup of sweet tea or a Sonic slushie (yes, even in the morning). I take this time to go over my to-do list, check overnight orders, and scroll through TikTok to catch any early trends I might want to hop on.

Tip: Pair your drink break with admin tasks — it’s a low-stress way to ease into a productive day!

✿ 9:30 AM – Pressing Shirts for Orders

After emails and planning, it’s straight into fulfillment mode. I heat up my press and start on any custom t-shirts that came in overnight. I double check sizing, align each design carefully, and press them one by one. There’s something oddly satisfying about the rhythm of it all.

Tip for biz babes: Always do a test press if you’re working with a new vinyl or fabric. Mistakes are part of the process, but prep saves time!

✿ 11:30 AM – Packaging Time

Once the shirts are done, it’s time to package everything up. I fold each item, place them in clear self-adhesive bags, add size stickers, and tag them with my custom hang tags. Then everything gets carefully stacked in boxes, topped with a thank-you card or freebie, and sealed up for shipping.

Packaging Hack: Create a little packing station with bins for each item — it makes bulk orders so much easier!

✿ 1:00 PM – Content Creation Block

In the afternoon, I switch gears and start creating content. This could be anything from packing videos, sublimation tutorials, product reveals, or a quick “day in the life” Reel. I usually film 2–3 TikToks and a few product shots I can repurpose across platforms.

Tip for creators: Keep a running list of content ideas on your phone. That way, you never sit down and feel stuck!

✿ 3:00 PM – Post Office Run

Once the orders are packed, I load everything up and head to the post office. This moment always feels full-circle — seeing my products heading off to their new homes is still the best feeling.

✿ 4:00 PM – Wrap Up & Reset

I end the day by resetting my workspace, answering final emails, and planning the next day’s priorities. If I have extra energy, I’ll brainstorm upcoming product drops or sketch out new ideas for the boutique.

✿ Final Thoughts

Every day looks a little different, but the one thing that stays the same? I’m building something I love — one shirt, one video, one customer at a time.

To all my fellow small biz babes: you’ve got this. Take breaks when you need to, romanticize the little tasks, and celebrate every win (big or small).
